Acapulco Dream Weddings

     Acapulco is actually named Acapulco de Juárez.  It was once a very important trade stop for products shipped in from the Phillipines.  Today, Acapulco is a city of approximately 1 million people with one sole purpose--to cater to tourists.  The beaches of Acapulco are beautiful and the climate is hot (tropical) all year long.  Acapulco has long been the vacation resort of choice for the wealthy; many well-known Mexicans have their own private villas here.  International flights and cruise ships arrive in Acapulco on a regular basis.

     Development in Acapulco continues, especially in the Acapulco Diamante area, where grandiose new hotels and timeshare
developments can be found.  However, Acapulco still offers a taste of the Golden era.  During the late 1940's and 1950's, Acapulco was the destination of choice for the jet set.  In 1957, Liz Taylor married Mike Todd in Acapulco at Villa Vera; she originally came to Acapulco to get a divorce from Michael Wilding.  Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher (to be Liz's next husband after Todd's death) attended the affair.  JFK and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned in Acapulco after their marriage, Donald and Ivanna Trump and a young Bill and Hillary Clinton did the same here.  Today, Acapulco is again enjoying a revitalization in interest as a destination for weddings and honeymoons, as well as a popular site for beach-by-day, disco-by-night vacationers from all over the world.

     Popular water-related activities in Acapulco include snorkeling,
scuba diving, para-sailing, deep sea fishing, and sailing.  A trip to La
Roqueta (a small, rocky island in the bay) is ordinarly undertaken by glass-bottom boat.  The cliff divers of La Quebrada are famous throughout the world.  Discoteques and nightclubs abound, and Acapulco sports some of Mexico's most popular nightspots.  There exists an almost endless number of activities for tourists of all ages and all tastes in Acapulco.
